The Woman in the Ochre Sweater Elsa Ulbricht (1885-1980) Ulbricht was an important founding artist at the Summer School of Painting in Saugatuck, known today as Ox-Bow. She was school director from 1947 to 1958 and again in 1964. Painted in the Ox-Bow meadow, The Red and the Hot Dog Stand cottages and the Inn — all still standing today — are visible in the background. Reproduction canvas. Original painting is on display at the Saugatuck Woman’s Club, 303 Butler Street, Saugatuck. To view more local art, visit the 2nd floor gallery at the SDHC’s Old School House, 130 Center St., in nearby Douglas, Michigan.
