DescriptionElsa Ulbricht's "Cows" lithograph depicts three cows securely tucked away in a shady barn. All three are facing towards a small window that shines light onto their faces, two are standing, and one is lying down. The lithograph process lends itself well to Ulbricht's style of building density and depth of color. In it Ulbricht would have used a lithographic grease crayon. The viewer can see the marks made by a crayon most prominently in the cow in the foreground's shadow. This lithograph is dedicated "To Agnes" on the lower left corner, and signed "Elsa E. Ulbricht 1939" in the lower right corner in pencil.
