92. Tower Resort, Tower Marina

Location: 216 St. Peters Drive, Douglas
Date: 1920

This “Eyeful Tower” was part of the popular 1920s Terrace Park Resort, that grew out of the Captain Walter D. Hamilton estate built in the late 1800s. High on the hill overlooking Lake Kalamazoo, the tower was a local landmark until it was demolished in the 1980s. The property is part of the Harbor Court condominium village today.

In the mid 1960s, the rest of the Hamilton estate was turned into a marina, named Tower Marine. In 2022, the property was purchased by Safe Harbor Marinas along with Saugatuck Yacht Service and the Red Dock.
