The Lion House
Location: 90 Union Street, Douglas
Date: Ca. 1867

A village landmark, the original house was a folk-Gothic farmhouse with tall gables looking out over a pleasant lawn, getting its name from a set of large lion sculptures at its street entrance. The house was given a Colonial Revival update and additions by a new owner in the 1930s—at the same time the adjacent carriage house (with a ballroom) was converted into a separate residence.
