Masonic Lodge & Village Hall
Location: 86 Center Street, Douglas
Date: 1875, with left half added in 1902.

In its simple Shaker-like classical form, this was the most important building in the daily life of early Douglas. As the home of both the Masonic Lodge and the Village Council it was, in effect, the male “power center” of the village as well as the place for the Saturday night dance, meetings, and other community “socials.” It was named after the mill owner Thomas Benton Dutcher, the lodge’s first Worshipful Master.
