66. Saugatuck Woman’s Club
Location: 303 Hoffman at Butler Street, Saugatuck

The Saugatuck Woman’s Club was founded in 1904 for intellectual, cultural, and artistic exchange between women in the community. In 1934, member Minnie Breuckman bequeathed her residence to be the clubhouse and village library. A brick auditorium was added in 1935, designed by the great American architect Thomas Eddy Tallmadge, in a style reminiscent of the Colonial Williamsburg restoration he was engaged in for the Rockefeller family. The Woman’s Club auditorium is still widely used as a gathering place for community concerts, plays, meetings and, since 1988, home of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck.
