Henry Till’s Barn
Location: Upper Spear Street, Saugatuck
Date: 1895 / Restored, 2005-06

Most local orchards from the early days have disappeared, and most of the old barns have fallen or have been destroyed. This barn stands as an historical artifact, preserving the memory of the historic landscape and as a tribute to the many people who tended to the orchards, picked the fruit, and transported the fruit to distant markets. Henry Till was a ship’s carpenter who married Olga Shumann in 1890. They built the barn at the time they purchased this fruit farm in 1895. The resorted barn is now an artist studio.
