11. Belvedere Mansion
Location: 3656 63rd Street, Saugatuck Township

A grand summer home that at one time had a view of Lake Michigan from the west porch, the “Belvedere” is in the Italian Renaissance Revival style by the famous Chicago architectural firm of Perkins, Fellows & Hamilton. The owners were Mr. and Mrs. John D. Williamson, a Chicago People’s Gas and Electric Company executive. One of the estate’s barns eventually became the home of the Red Barn Summer Stock Theater. The mansion was an inn and restaurant throughout the 2000s. As of 2026, the new owners have converted the mansion to an events venue and demolished the barn.
