Local Solstice Social

You’re invited to the History Museum at Mt Baldhead on Wednesday, June 21st for an open house from 6-8 PM… on the longest day of the year! The Museum, housed in the historic 1904 Saugatuck Pump House, is marking its 28th year of award-winning history exhibits and programming in 2023. With the summer season underway and evening light plentiful, this is a great time to come together to socialize on the SDHC’s patio overlooking the Kalamazoo River.

All are welcome, free of charge, to see the Lure of Mount Baldhead exhibit and learn about volunteer opportunities with the History Center. Food from the grill and refreshments including beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided.

The latest exhibit opened in July 2022, the first new exhibit since the pandemic. “The Lure of Mount Baldhead” has attracted more than 1,000 visitors a month to tour the museum and make a virtual climb to the top of the storied dune. A viewing platform offers an immersive 360-degree panoramic view taken by celebrated photographer and long-time SDHC board member James Cook.

For more information on the event and on volunteer opportunities at the History Center, contact volunteer coordinator Annie Hayes at [email protected].

This program is generously sponsored by SDHC Board Member Bill Hess with Mike Mattern!
