Commercial fishing signs and net

Items donated by Bruce and Marilyn Starring for Shanty project. The Sewers Fisheries sign (68x24 inches) is hand painted on 1/4 inch plywood. The So. Lake Michigan Fisherman's Co-op sign (each of its two sections is 8 foot x 2 foot) is hand painted (and signed by Dan Cook) on 1/8 inch masonite with a wood frame.

Before and after delicate cleaning by Vic Bella Southern Lake Michigan Fisherman's Co-op sign, signed by Dan Cook; Masonite and wood sign was treated with moisture and UV-protective clear coat before installation. Sign installed on Harrington Boathouse next door to Shanty in May 2021 Dan Cook's tiny signature is under to second Pound (or Pond) net after boiling. Cotton net with wooden floats. This type of net was not meant to be invisible, like a gill net. Its purpose was to drive fish into an ever-decreasing funnel of netting in order to trap them.; Net installed on Shanty facade May 2021 Net prior to boiling
