See Commercial Record clipping attached to this entry. After the first powered flight by the Wright brothers in 1903, the American public was fascinated by the new technology of aviation. In 1910 a biplane was demonstrated in Detroit. -- “Skymen Give Proof of Their Mastery of Air”, Detroit Free Press, July 15, 1910, column 7. "E.O. Weeks, the aviator whose machine has been at the fairgrounds for the last two weeks, attempted a flight to Saugatuck, Sunday, at about 9:30, and many churchgoers of this city were astounded to see about 4,000 feet in the air an aeroplane going westward. He turned back when cloud cover entered but did make a successful flight to Saugatuck on Monday." -- Holland City News/The Holland Sentinel, Thursday, Aug. 14, 1913
