From James T. Fassen: "Also, in that circa 1880 photo of the Schaberg, aka S. C. Goshorn shoe shop with insurance agent place, in the background is Capt. Robert Woodhull’s place on the hill before it was burned down in 1883. In 1881, Woodhull had bought the property from Pieter Kallewaard’s widow, Maria Kallewaard (1814-1892), and their daughter, Alidia (Kallewaard) Vandenburg (1847-1920), both of Fillmore township, for $450. They bought if for a buck in 1876. ... It was a quick claim deed. A dollar is the least you can claim on property. Most likely he was renting or leasing the property and it was just to clear the title."
