"E.L. Leland & Co. of Saugatuck is getting ready to erect a new store building just south of the Saugatuck post office, on the old Stephen Morrison property. In excavating for the basement work men uncovered the skeletons of nearly 30 Indians that must have been buried from 75 to 100 years, as Mr. Morrison came to that vicinity in 1836. The Indians were buried in a sitting posture, the bones being very large and in perfect condition. They will probably be buried elsewhere." -- Holland City News/The Holland Sentinel, Thursday, Feb. 28, 1097
