Painted plywood sign for the Commercial Record office in Saugatuck that includes the text "Allegan County's Oldest Newspaper since 1868" and "Arthur L. Lane, Jr."
The grey sign has a colonial pediment shape with a white central area with arched top that contains the message. Possibly painted by Dan Cook.
A hanging wire was added to the sign for display in the joint SDHS and SCA exhibit "Signs of the Times."

sign: Commercial Record original site: 415 Lake Street [?] collection: Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society Collection Art and Kit Lane owned the Commercial Record from 1967 to 1994—with art as the editor and Kit as one of the paper’s principal reporters/writers. When this sign was displayed the paper, established in 1868, was located on Lake Street in what had formerly been the Wright’s Pavilion and gas station. text from "Signs of the Times"
