The wood is smooth, unvarnished and has no decorative piercing beyond the slits required to tread a beige tape that holds the fan together. The floral decoration, possibly a poppy, appears to be hand painted with the brush loaded with two colors of paint in the speedy tole painting style. The fan's pivot is a metal brad that includes a loop for hanging.
