School after Cyclone 1896
Photograph
Photo of the wrecked Saugatuck Union School building. It was thought lightening from the storm caused the fire.
Notations on the photo read "After Cyclone, July 26, 1896. School House Smoldering after Fire, James Browne, Photographer", "Site of Brady's residence", "X where school stood."
On the back of the photo is a stamp that reads "Jas. W. Brown, Saugatuck, Mich." and handwritten text "Ruins after cyclone, July 26, 1896."
Also, screenshots of Lake Shore Commercial, July 31, 1896 reporting about the fire and cyclone/tornado that damaged much of the town.
