World War II letters
Archive
Fifty-five World War II letters sent by Mrs. Otto Line from their family home in Fennville, MI to their son, Donald (Don) Line, who was in the service 1942-43.
In addition to the letters to Don, there are other letters to Mrs. Line from another son, Bob (Bunny), about of daily life in camp while he was stationed on an island in the South Sea. Mrs. Line included most of Bob’s letters in her writings to Don. There are three “Bob” letters which were not in separate envelopes.

The letters were donated by Carol Schultz accompanied by this note:
‘9/26/19’
‘The “Otto Line” Family home was torn down a few months ago. My son brought these letters he saved from destruction. I don’t think there are any close relatives around.
‘The “Cranes” bought the property and save the barn and have plans for the property. The house was at the corner of M-89 and 60th St. It used to go from M89 all the way back to Hutchins Lake and included Eagle Point.
‘These are very special letters. I can get info on people that are mentioned. Mr. Bob Crane was a neighbor at the time of these letters and a lot of old timers are mentioned that I can find info about them if you need me.
‘I would love it if someone had the time to make it so every one could read this wonderful text!
‘I want to know what happened after the war. Mr. & Mrs. Line mention 3 sons - Bob (Bunny), Don and Allan.
‘Thanks so much Carol Schultz.’
