Pink Roses by Cora Bliss Taylor
Painting
Still life oil painting of pink roses displayed in a footed vase along side a black cup, a baroque vessel and a feathery fan. A shimmering reflection of the objects fills the background. The painting is signed in lower left corner.
The canvas is framed in a wide, beige and gold frame with plaster decorations.
The protective paper covering the back of the painting has a printed label about the artist, Cora Bliss Taylor, and an ink stamp from the Ruskin Frame & Art Co. in Chicago. Taped to the backing paper is also a note that reads "¡No Olvide! [Don't forget!] 20 November 2000, For Saugatuck/Douglas Library Art-on-Loan, Warren H. and Ann E. Betty Mulder"

Donation
Ken Kutzel borrowed this artwork from the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library for the "Cody's World" exhibit in 2019. After the exhibit closed, Library director Ingrid Boyer decided to let the SDHC hold on to the painting because library staff were unable to contact an heir to the Mulder estate and the new library building had no place to store the work.
