Two black-ink and blue-wash illustrations on Strathmore paper by Nat Steinberg. The print-production drawings are signed "NPS" in the lower right corner. "2 col." indicates the drawings would be photographically reduced to fit a two-column page width measure. Notes at the lower right indicate when the illustrations were due to make up (assemble) the pages and when the pages would print. The backs are blank except for a time stamp.

Black Ink with color wash
These renderings were produced when Steinberg worked in Chicago as a newspaper illustrator/staff artist. The drawing were made on irregularly-cut pieces of heavy paper — rather than illustration board — and are dotted with white correction paint, indicating they were produced quickly to meet a looming deadline. Specifically, these cartoons added visual interest to the Dear Abby advice column that was syndicated in 1956 and offered practical advice for domestic problems.
