Two albums/3-ring binders filled with photos, programs, "The Connector" newsletters, correspondence, publicity, set lists, and newspaper clippings about the Lakeshore Jazz Connection Inc., a non-profit cultural performance corporation with a mission "To connect jazz performers and composers with audiences and the community by presenting performances and educational activities which celebrate our musical heritage." Performances, clinics and celebrations happened at the Saugatuck Woman's Club, Westshore Golf Club, Saugatuck High School, Third Stone Gallery, Douglas Elementary and Saugatuck Center for the Arts. A peek inside the binders
About Lakeshore Jazz Connection, Inc.; The history of Lakeshore Jazz Connection from it's inception in 1993 includes some twists and turns. Incorporated in 1993 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, as Lakeshore Arts Connection, Inc. originally formed to present jazz in the Saugatuck/Douglas community. We received a grant from the Greater Grand Rapids Arts Council in 1996 to help fund jazz clinics for our first Jazz Celebration. In addition to three Jazz Celebrations (1996 - 1998), we supported activities such as the Art a Loan Project, performances in schools, the Saugatuck Chamber Music Festival and provided ushers for the Red Bam Theater. In 1999, we held the Saugatuck Jazz Series during the summer months and had a fundraiser in November which featured local residents reminiscing about dancing at the Pavilion and played a rare recording of a 1961 Duke Ellington performance in Saugatuck to coincide with Duke's Centennial Celebration. The year 2000 featured a Performing Arts Series, with expanded music styles to include jazz, Brazilian Jazz, Folk, and Tex-Mex. After successfully presenting jazz celebrations, clinics and concerts for five years, the LAC Board of Directors decided to change the name of the organization to Lakeshore Jazz Connection, Inc. to reflect our passion more accurately. 2001 was a pivitol year for LJC. We started attracting concert underwriters and started selling out concerts. Underwriters made it possible for us to continue presenting quality jazz.

Items mounted on acidic "magnetic" photo album pages (with a wax surface and acetate topper) have been removed from the pages and placed in archival sheet protectors in the same locations in the binders. Originally, this material was in three binders. Removing the non-archival pages decreased the bulk of the pages to fit in two binders.
