H.D. Moore/Park House circa 1860
Photograph
This etching of the prosperous H.D. Moore house scanned from a book or engraving. Source may be the book "History of Allegan and Barry Counties, Michigan" Crisfield Johnson, D.W. Ensign & Company, 1880 [see 2019.35.105]
The image depicts a two-story wooden dwelling with wrap around porches and a bay window. The home and the children and animals on the lightly-treed property are protected from horse-drawn buggies on the road by a picket fence. In the distance a tug chugs by on the Kalamazoo River and sparse dune reaches high into the sky.
