The Mathers were former owners of the property where the Commercial Record is located. He pointed out the maple tree immediately west of the Record office, growing on the parkway that he planted from a seedling in 1894. This is the Commercial Record office across the street from Uncommon Grounds shop on Hoffman St. The building is still there but not recognizable because of changes in the surrounding structures.
