They Liked the Pie by Ken Carls
Archive
Two copies of an essay written by Ken Carls about authenticity as symbolized by his mother's peach pies. Text also includes Mr. Carls' memories of harvest time at his parent's farm, his baking of 16 peach pies to sell by the slice at a Douglas Thursday Night Social to raise funds for the SDHC museum, his ideas about how people respond to the real in a world full of counterfeit experiences, and how the SDHS should preserve the authentic in the Saugatuck-Douglas community by supporting the Heritage Preservation Committee. Four pages.
The essay was printed in the August 1997 SDHS newsletter.
