Spoon, Maplewood
2012.39.05
A 5 1/4" sterling spoon with "Maplewood Saugatuck" and an engraving of the south side of the hotel as it looked in early 1900's inscribed on the bowl. On handle the head of an Indian and corn, tepees, canoe and arrows. The spoon was sent to Kit Lane after a 1976 request for souvenirs to display at the Saugatuck Historical Museum. The spoon was donated by Jeanette Barr of Port Washington, Wisconsin, daughter of Dr. R.J. Walker. She noted "The spoon commemorating Maplewood Hotel was given to me by Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Pride who were the proprietors in 1902 when I was born. It was one of my baby gifts."
