Founded by local entrepreneur Don "Toad" Davis, Saugatuck’s Blue Tempo House of Music and Bar was a well-known, year-round hub of the live-jazz scene that later evolved as an early Michigan mixed gay-straight dance club. The building was destroyed by mysterious fire in 1976 but the sign survived. Al Weener took the sign from the burned out building. He was given permission by Don Davis although Mr. Davis did not own the structure at the time.
