They are Eugene, Louis, Jr., Charles, Calvin and Sanford and three other children are in defense work. Dixie, Mrs. John Flores, is a registered nurse employed at the Black River foundry as industrial nurse, and two younger sons, Aaron, 12 years and Gerry, 10, who help with the farm work The son-in-law, John Flores, is also doing essential war work in South Haven. Eugene MM 1-c, eldest son, is 25; he enlisted in 1941, received training at Great Lakes, Dearborn at the Ford school and was assigned to the USS Truxton and completed a trip to Iceland; on the second trip the Truxton was wrecked off the coast of Newfoundland with heavy liss of life, After more training he was assigned to a new destroyer and transferred to the Pacific where he now is. Sgt. Louis, jr., 23, entered service after graduation from MSC in 1943; he is now in France. Charles Joined the navy in 1943 as a welder and shipfitter on a repair ship, largest of its kind on the seas. He received his training on the west coast. Calvin, MOMM 2-c, 20, entered the navy in 1942, received his training at Great Lakes and a diesel engineering school at Columbia university, Mo., and in San Diego. He has been on a cruiser in the southwest Pacific the past year. Pvt. San-ford, 19 volunteered for a-e training in January, 1944; he has been at Jefferson Barracks, Laredo, Tex., and is now at Lincoln, Neb., in the classification department.
