Diploma and Tassel, 1943

Saugatuck High School diploma and 13-inch long orange tassel.
The diploma has an beige, onionskin paper dust jacket embossed with a cloud-like pattern. The diploma presentation cover has a dark blue suede-like cover with an embossed seal and the text "Saugatuck High School Jeannette E. Hacklander Class of 1943" The inside of the cover is lined with orange moire taffeta fabric.
The beige paper diploma is bound to the cover with a 1/4" navy ribbon, tied in a bow. The diploma certifies that Jeannette E. Hacklander has completed her high school educations and was given the document in Saugatuck on June 10, 1943. The diploma is signed by trustees Edwin House and S.L. Newnham, and superintendent L.H. Waugh. The back of the diploma lists the class flower as dark, red rose; color as maroon and silver-gray; motto as "Climb as you were to live forever; live as you were to die tomorrow" and, on the other side, a class roll [list of graduating students].
