Volume one covers Michigan history covering the 17th century including early native Americans, French explorers, British regime and the American Revolution. 18th century covers Detroit and Mackinac, The 19th century topics cover education, politics and early days of statehood. Volume two covers Michigan at the mid- 1950s-the development of the industries of the state and a history of the various professsions, together with a survey of their status at mid-century. Volumes three and four cover biographical descriptions of prominent Michigan families and personal history.
