Kalamazoo Lighthouse 1913
Photograph
BW photo of the Kalamazoo Lighthouse that once stood at the north side of the old Kalamazoo River mouth. Photo estimated to be from 1911 to 1913. The woman and children on the front porch steps are presumed to be Sarah (Unwin) Sheridan and her sons or members of the visiting Unwin family.
The photo depicts the 1859 light house as seen from the riverbank or dock and shows the staircase and an outbuilding. A wire threading up the building is likely for grounding a lightning rod. Shades appear to be drawn over the light apparatus in the tower.
