Taylor, Cora Bliss 1889-1986

from Cora Bliss Taylor "Cody's World" exhibit, Aug 2019 at the OSH Three Sailboats c.1940s | Watercolor Creator: Cora Bliss Taylor Manipulation of color is the device used here to create an illusion of depth. The warm colors of the foreground keep the viewer removed from the actual scene. Three sailboats in neutral colors frame a view of Saugatuck. The background is comprised of cool colors which visually and strongly separate the foreground from the background. The use of negative space above the treeline creates the illusion of light.
