The Saugatuck Women’s Club is hosting Dr. Michael Nassaney, Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University, September 24th at 1:00 pm at the SWC Clubhouse at the corner of Butler and Hoffman in Saugatuck.
Dr. Nassaney’s presentation, “The Women of Fort St. Joseph”, will help us understand the vital role of women at the Fort. Dr. Nassaney served from 1998-2020 as the principal investigator of the Fort St. Joseph Archaeological Project at Fort St. Joseph in Niles, Michigan. Ongoing “historical archaeological investigations at the site of the Fort are beginning to illuminate the role of women in the daily life” of this strategic portage.
