SDHC Executive Director Eric Gollannek will talk about the history and mystery of Singapore, the town that now lies buried beneath the sand dunes of theĀ Lake MichiganĀ shoreline at the mouth of theĀ Kalamazoo River. Founded in 1836 by New York land speculatorĀ Oshea Wilder, at its peak, the town was more successful than neighboring Saugatuck but rapidly declined for both ecological and financial reasons and was uninhabited by 1878.

This talk was generously supported by business sponsor Art Coast Eye Care of Saugatuck and SDHC member John Thomas of Douglas, Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona.
