Learn more about the history of Saugatuck’s beloved Village Hall and learn about its many layers of history. The free event open to all takes place on Wednesday, May 13th at Saugatuck City Hall from 4:30-6 PM at 102 Butler Street in Downtown Saugatuck.
This program examines the history of Village Hall from its original construction as the village fire station in 1880, its 1928 renovation by painter/architect Carl Hoerman, and history as Saugatuck City Hall. The village hall also plays an important part in the founding of the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society back in May of 1986.
This event features an open house with hotdogs and refreshments from 4:30-6 PM. At 5 PM SDHC director Eric Gollannek will give a short presentation on the history of village hall and the founding of the Historical Society on its 40th anniversary!
