Local scenes afgahn

2026.14.01

In 1993, the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Museum and the Saugatuck Area Merchants Association produced this afghan to fundraise for the museum. There was a green-and-white version and a multiple-colors version. In the 2000s, the SDHC commissioned another dozen afghans that were blue and white. This particular afghan was owned by Christina Barber who worked at the Pavilion and lived here until 1957 when she moved to South Haven. Christina Barber was friends with Mary Belle Cobb and Carol Birkholz Troutman, who often babysat Christina's daughter Sharon Saarela.
