Braman Metzger interview 1997

Braman was born in 1920 and lived in Saugatuck for 60 years. He was born in Flushing, MI. Their first house was on Water St. and later on Mason St. The family was from Germany and his father was a barber in Saugatuck. His memories include: Business on Butler St. – City Hall on the west side, the Albert Weed house, Babcock House, A&P, Flint’s Dry Goods, Post Office, Waltz Meat Market, etc. Pictures: Early Metzger family, the barber shop & home, Old Saugatuck High School, basket factory, view of Butler St. in winter, etc. Dr. Walker – well liked; Dr. House – old school medicine; Dr. Krieger – dentist. In 1971 his family took over the “Around the Corner Ice Cream Shop”.
