Francis Chapin served as director of the Ox-Bow Summer School of Painting in the 1940s and took students to paint en plein air often as part of their studies. This painting was purchased from Kamp Gallery in Chicago in 1996 by Herb and Karen Tews. It is a recent donation to the History Center’s permanent art collection.
