They have rented the Greenhalgh house in the north part of town, and are prepared to enjoy and profit by their outing to the fullest extent. Saugatuck is becoming more and more popular with these art students, and they are very desirable visitors. cr1923082401SignPostAndSeatPresentedToArtSchool.jpg; Sign Post and Seat Presented to Summer Art School. Last Sunday morning a very interesting ceremony occurred at the Art School. This was the presentation by Mr. Eames Mac Veagh of Chicano to the school of a seat and sign-post situated on the wooded path leading from Ox-Bow Inn to the River. The seat was designed by Mr. Talmadge, president of the Saugatuck Summer School corporation, and a well known Chicago artist, and the sign-post bearing the Ox-Bow shield wag the work of Mr. Emmler, a former student. The invited guests were told to walk abead to the point where the seat was situated. There they awaited the arrival of the procession, composed of the members of the school, who march-led up the path singing an original marching song in honor of Saugatuck. The women were in costumes to represent the wind, the sunshine, the dunes, the lake, and the forest, and the men Indians, voyageurs, Jesuit missionaries, lumbermen, pioneers and painters. Following the arrival of the procession and the offering of various appropriate gifts, there was music and the formal opening by the director, who was supposed to be a sea captain. Mr. Fursman told the story of the seat -how Mr. Mac Veagh had offered a prize, and these were the designs chosen to receive it. Mr. Mac Veagh then presented the gift, which was formally accepted by Mr. Talmadge in behalf of the school. More music concluded the program. August 16, 1917 Commercial Record; An ode to Frederick F.
